In response to the ongoing pandemic, India's central government is working diligently to bolster the country's healthcare infrastructure. They have formed a committee, led by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, to collaborate with private companies and startups to produce health and personal protection equipment (PPE).
The committee has hosted six meetings with various organizations since its inception on March 3. These organizations, consisting of startups, industry associations, and civil society groups, are working together to devise solutions to the healthcare challenges posed by the pandemic.
The startups involved range from AgVa, developing compact ventilators, to Qure.ai, which works on solutions to interpret chest X-rays automatically. The committee's efforts extend beyond equipment production, as the government seeks to enhance the security of its Aarogya Setu app, a tool used to keep users' data safe during the crisis.
By fostering collaboration and innovation, the committee strives to strengthen India's healthcare system to manage current and future health crises better.
